Nigel Lythgoe, producer of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, has been hit with a third sexual assault lawsuit in less than two months. Paula Abdul was the first to come forward in late December, which was followed by a second lawsuit filed by two women from the 2003 reality show All American Girl at the beginning of January. Days later, Nigel announced he was "stepping back" from his role as a judge on the upcoming season of So You Think You Can Dance.

On February 18, a third lawsuit was filed by a woman who said she met Lythgoe at a Beverly Hills bar in 2016. She says that he insisted on driving her home which should have been a two minute drive. Instead, Lythgoe's driver took 10-15 minutes to get to her apartment, during which time Lythgoe allegedly assaulted her. [sensitive content]“Plaintiff tried to push Lythgoe away from her and instruct Lythgoe’s driver how to return to her house, but Lythgoe continued to grab at Plaintiff, fondle her breasts, and kiss her. Lythgoe even shoved his hand up Plaintiff’s skirt and penetrated her genitalia.” She is suing for sexual battery, gender violence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
