Blumhouse canceled a "Truth or Dare" sequel starring Tyler Posey and Lucy Hale at the last minute.

"I think that would have been a lot of fun to make and the audience would have dug it," says director Jeff Wadlow.https://t.co/k9DFeNrhfE

Blumhouse reveals although the 2018 movie made $95 million on a $3.5 million budget there are no plans to release the already written sequel. Jeff Wadlow wrote a sequel after Tyler Posey pitched the idea. Posey came up with the idea after the cast became friends and went on a trip together. It could've been a meta movie where the actors are playing themselves and go on a trip after the premier of the movie when the truth or dare session begins. Although the cast was down, the pandemic ultimately killed the idea. They would have to have lived together throughout the filming process and the logistics of health and safety proved too much.

Tyler Posey was originally not going to be credited for coming up with the film. Instead, they wanted him to say he came up with the idea in a behind the scenes extra bit. Posey refused and would have gotten a credit after some back and forth.

If you're looking for a movie that has a similar idea, The Final Girls 2015 is about a group of teenagers who get sucked into a horror movie that featured one of the protagonist's mom as an actor.
