Agreed it’s super obvious especially since he usually doesn’t want to talk to press

i genuinely preferred paul's performance tbh. but yeah paul is campaigning too, it's just that there's a lot more money behind oppenheimer's campaign

I did too lol I’m also sick of these tortured genius performances. In general I preferred the holdovers over Oppenheimer
Tbh I don’t mind either of them campaigning but like don’t make a big deal out of acting like you’re above it

I don’t think he has ever made a big deal about being above it?

I think the internet kind of projected that onto him. I’ve read in his interviews that he said he was uncomfortable about doing it, not that he was above it (I mean who wouldn’t. It’s a weird fucking thing to suddenly get a certain type of attention) but he is definitely getting more comfortable about it lol.

That one article he did made it seem like campaigning right now is “the job” and he is gonna go back to that quiet life in Ireland when he wins and this eventually dies down. (Not saying that it’s gonna be that easy because I feel like a comedown like that is fucking weird. And not in a poor him sense because lol.) I mean he can also surprise us and go Hollywood all of a sudden after this LOL.

100%. These people are projecting a lot.
There's nothing wrong with showing you're proud of your work. He'll go back to Ireland and continue to be lowkey. I don't see his actions as a contradiction. He's been in Hollywood for a long time and enjoys being and actor, he just doesn't like the celebrity lifestyle.

Anyone thinking he's relishing the media frenzy - or acting as though he's above it all (seriously?) - knows nothing. This has been a huge step out of his comfort zone and you can see it behind his eyes if you can get past the startling blue of them. He'll disappear back home on March 11th like the Irish faerie that he is, so we should enjoy him while we can, or don't. The backlash here just makes me want it for him even more and Oppenheimer is pretty far down my list of best films I saw last year and I adored Paul Giamatti's performance in The Holdovers.

imo the idea that any actor anywhere any time isn't thirsty for recognition and praise is absolutely bonkers.

Absolutely agreed they’re all narcissistic however Cillian who btw I then is insanely talented always goes out of his way to say how much he hates Hollywood and doesn’t care about award ceremonies blah blah
