No, and the amount of Reddit comments I saw this past month saying the BAFTAs don't owe her a nomination because "Native Americans aren't relevant to the UK" was insane, like what the actual fuck

I’ve seen so many people saying this recently too and it blows my mind how inane it is! Where do they think Americans came from? What country started colonizing the modern USA?

It’s as much the UK’s history as it is the U.S.’s history even if they want to lie to themselves otherwise.

What I've gathered is that British kids basically learn nothing about the empire and British colonialism. Like one kid straight up told me they had no idea America started as a British colony. But for some reason they spent a month learning about all of Henry VIII's wives? And maybe they'll spend like a week on the British Raj but that's about it.
