poor maisie was sent to the worst interviewer in american's television. also imma use this post to say that i'm still obsessed with her look for the show premiere.

meanwhile ben and seth were wonderful together, the difference between the interviews and how they flown was stark, especially side by side. the orange/apple bit made me laugh more than it should seeing how stupid it was.

Fallon is the worst at interviewing people. He constantly interrupts them/doesn’t let them finish answering whatever lame question he just asked two seconds ago, repeats what the guest just said, fake laughs too much, etc. It’s shocking to me that he’s so consistently bad at the main part of his job yet has been the host of The Tonight Show for a decade.

I'm really enjoying the Seth Meyers interviews that have been posted here of late; he's a very measured and thoughtful host who manages to draw the best out of his guests whilst still being playful. He's more respectful than Kimmel, intelligent than Fallon, and compared to Colbert I feel like he doesn't have to dumb things down as much for his audience.

He is definitely better at interviewing people than the two Jimmys, both of whom seem really set on asking their guests the questions written on their cards no matter what.

seth is my favorite late night host because of the things you said. he seems to genuinely care and engage with his guests, he clearly does his research and knows what he is talking during the interviews (may be watching the movies, reading the books, engaging with the person interviewed) that you can genuinely see people putting their guard down and talk to him naturally and enjoy being around him.

also i think that his staff thinks so highly of him and that he does not feel threatened by them and allows them to shine even giving plataforms for them to do so and investing on them also comes through a lot on screen.

Agreed! Seth is my fave. He genuinely listens to people and he is always so warm. He's really good at thinking on his feet and is willing to follow guests in unexpected directions.

Both Seth and Colbert wear their heart on their sleeves, which is not what you used to see in talk shows. They're both great hosts. I preferred Stephen's comedy in The Daily Show/The Colbert Report era. It's a little dumbed down and corny now, and clearly because he's an 11:30 broadcast network show, he can't be as obscure or biting as he used to be.

my exact reaction

watched the video and thought he was piss-taking but

https://www.unimelb.edu.au/newsroom/news/2017/october/university-of-melbourne-colleagues-share-in-a-nobel-prize-for-peace

seems like he kinda tangentially got a nobel peace prize

I genuinely thought he was making that up too! I looked it up after watching the interview, and saw his dad had an interesting science career, but I was like that's no Nobel Prize. lol That's very cool.

I read Emma Forrest's book about divorcing Ben Mendelsohn and I was sure I had never heard of him or seen him in anything, even though he is portrayed as being extremely rich and successful.

Except I had seen his Star Wars and superhero movies and I had watched Secret Invasion like a week earlier, oops

There is quite a bit about him in "Busy Being Free"

It's not exactly flattering but presumably he approved and they end up on good terms co-parenting their daughter
