I'm now convinced that Zaslav is intentionally trying to kill WB. He must have some kind of scam set up where if WB dissolves, his dick turns into unobtainium or some shit.

He's literally set the precedent that you can make a movie for a studio and they can just go "nah, fuck you" and delete it. I have no idea why anyone will work with WB after this. I mean, what if you get injured on set and then need those distribution residuals to pay off medical bills? Or what if you just set up your compensation like "give me 100,000 for production and then I want 10% of the back-end"? Will WB just agree to that and then say "oh no, sorry, we can't release this for tax reasons" after its wrapped? Are we going to see actors demand ridiculous upfront salaries in light of this?

I’ve been on this thought process since day one. Every decision since the merger has suggested as much

If the streets are correct, a lot of producers, directors, etc quietly cancelled meetings with WB regarding new projects over this. No one wants to work with a studio who does this sort of thing. Not only is it bad business, but everyone (cast, crew, marketing people, crafts, etc) work really, really hard on a movie, and in a lot of cases having a credit on a film leads to more work. Deleting a movie from existence takes those opportunities away. The fact that it's one of their own IPs makes it even worse because it makes folks rightfully think "If this is what you do with one of your long-standing, much beloved IPs, what would you do to MY project?" And they would be right.

It's so crazy cause before this I thought of them as one of the most interesting major studios.

The 2010s were good for them.

Edge of Tomorrow, Crazy Rich Asians, Mad Max: Fury Road, Gravity etc.

Remember when people thought Christopher Nolan was crazy for leaving WB over a squabble over sending movies to streaming? Dude looks like a genius now lol

He really doesn't considering he still uses their studio for post production work and wants to go back to them.

Luckily there’s insurance for on set injuries.
