i saw AF this past weekend and really enjoyed it! it was so funny and touching and everyone fucking killed it. trace was great [Spoiler (click to open)](i was devastated that she died like 20 mins into the film) and so was sterling, who was not only delivering a great performance but also looked incredible.

When I see him in a movie (though strangely not in this vid, must be his everyday voice, which is perfectly fine too), my immediate thought is he should do audio books, his voice in some films is so supremely pleasant to the ear, and I am someone who gets homicidal from half the ASMR sounds people like and thinks that hosts eating during podcasts deserve capital punishment, so I can judge lol (fucking misophonia).

I’m watching this film right now and Sterling K Brown looks kind of hot 🥵

Also, the movie shading the Oscars in the scene where the lead is watching tv and they are talking about black films and basically just show violence and slavery

I really liked American fiction, it's a great comedy.
[Spoiler (click to open)]I didn't quite understand Sintara's argument to Monk's question about differences in their books. I wish we'd gotten more time with these characters. I really liked Lisa, and I was completely shocked by her death. I loved all three endings, the second one was especially beautiful and romantic. Wiley was right, they should use it for a rom-com.

I enjoyed the movie in some ways, but I felt the book was better.

The movie felt made palatable for the masses compared to the bleakness of the book. (The book is funny at times, but you’re mostly left sitting with the familial trauma, classism, white supremacy, etc.) Also, My Pafology was a wild ride.
