- On Wednesday, Christian Bale broke ground on a project he’s been pursuing for 16 years: the construction of 12 homes and a community centre intended to keep siblings in foster care together in Los Angeles County.
- According to reports, he was not just a donor - the project was his idea. He was actively involved, lending not only his name and financial support but also his labour.
- The event took place in Palmdale, a city 60 miles north of Los Angeles, across the San Gabriel Mountains.
- The location is described as "decidedly non-Hollywood."
- The project has been ongoing since 2008.
- Bale said: “I didn’t think it was going to take that long,” [...] “I had a very naive idea about kind of getting a piece of land and then, bringing kids in and the brothers and sisters living together and sort of singing songs like the Von Trapp family in ‘The Sound of Music’. ”
