In an interview with NBC News Gabby has announced her return to the sport as well as training for the Paris Olympics. She's also updated her IG with a video on her return.

ONTDers who follow gymnastics more closely, is the current group of USA gymnasts really stacked? Like does Gabby have a real shot at making the team or is getting a slot very competitive?

i’m far from an expert, but i think we’ll see gabby’s real potential and gauge her chances with the upcoming winter cup. i think anything can happen!

Looking at last year I'd say it's going to be tight. Winter Cup (Feb. 23-25) will probably show us who the front runners are so we'll have a better idea in a month. We haven't seen Gabby compete for a long time so she's a wildcard at this point but I'm rooting for her.

The women's gymnastics talent in the US is very deep. They likely could put together two full teams for the Olympics who would both have a strong chance of medalling.
