There's so many terrible shows marketed as comedy/panel shows in the UK. Mrs Brown's Boys keeps getting renewed by BBC1 and I don't know how. Celebrity Juice got 20 seasons and I don't know how. Death in Paradise is another one. Just so much garbage and it keeps being renewed.

My mum loves Death In Paradise. I think it's people like her keeping it on air.

I feel like death in paradise is very much catered to a certain demographic who find it a "comfort" show.

The crossover between the people who enjoy Mrs Brown’s Boys and people who are transphobic is unbelievably high

Is MBB even still on? It had its moments, mostly the improvised ones that threatened Rory's composure, but it was by no means the height of Irish comedy. Or any comedy, lol. Weirdly enough, it was a trans person who introduced me to it, lmao. But I can see that being true with the "You can't say anything anymore!" crowd.

That's such a specific way to describe a show that also tells me EXACTLY what to expect.

The majority of U.K. tv is absolute shit tbh. It’s either crappy reality series or stuff like you mention. Occasionally you’ll get something genuinely good. But the golden days of British telly are long gone. I basically only use streaming services now. I never watch live tv.

Agreed. I can probably count on one hand all the uk tv shows I was genuinely invested in over the past few years. Also I kind of hate how uk soaps have dropped off. Eastenders is just about keeping its head afloat but Corrie is DOA.
