Moviegoers, our long national nightmare is over! Argylle begins screening tonight and critic reviews are poor.

With 39 reviews in, the film has a dismal 39 on Metacritic and a 36 on Rotten Tomatoes. As someone who has seen the film, its stupid-silly and not in a good way and completely overstays its welcome with an unnecessarily long 2 hr 20 min runtime.

The marketing strategy behind the film was all about the "real" Agent Argylle, and to not spoil it for anyone once you found out. Hilariously, the film did just that when it was originally announced in July 2021:

Matthew Vaughn is set to direct a thriller about a best-selling female novelist who turns out to be a world-class spy suffering from amnesia.

Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell & Samuel L Jackson are in talks to star in the film.

Yep. Bryce Dallas Howard's Ms. Elly Conway is the real Argylle, who was purposely mind wiped by the baddies. The whole "the books are happening for real" plot is due to the fact that Elly is basing the books on her unrememberd memories of being a CIA Agent named Rachel Kylle (R.Kylle, get it).

And now you know. And now you don't have to see it.
