We don't pay enough attention to the fact that one of the largest groups of perpetrators of male violence against women are sons and brothers.

Oh yeah I had that experience with my brother. It was traumatising for me tbh. I don't think I can ever trust him again.

Yep…one of my clients is a former Mormon who escaped from sibling abuse and incest. She told me that religion and the misogyny taught through society and religion is the biggest culprit for letting men and brothers abuse their female family members the most.

Or that brothers are the majority of perpetrators of sexual violence out of that, that happens within the family.
Even I have somehow always thought that uncles lead in that dishonorable group, but I think it's because cases against brothers are also less often reported.

Agreed. A close friend of my mother’s had her skull fractured by her son last year and she has such a level of shame around it that’s taking her a lot to work through because he’s her child (even though he’s 34 now). It’s also a situation where my mum knows she’ll never be able to leave him or stop seeing him in the way she left his father because he’s never going to stop being her son. It’s awful and complicated and there’s not enough support for women in these situations.

I agree how complicated the story is, other ppl would just dismiss it n say just leave the son or brother. In my case my mom was crying n pleading with me not to break off the sibling relationship between me n my brother because she is old now n she can't bear to lose her kids at her age.

I read your comment and thought, "What? No way", then remembered how my own brother would beat me up and do other unbrotherly things right until he moved out and... yeah
