I think it's fascinating because the concept of the album supposedly is how it sounds like what people would expect of Justin. So FutureTrash/CanSounds-esque. The problem is....does anyone really WANT that sound right now, regardless of who's singing it? We're having a 90s early 2000s revival but 2006-2014 is pretty passe and dated right now it seems. I don't know, I think he and his team are out to lunch.

The funny thing to me is he didn't do anything after FS/LS because he wanted to focus on acting and other things but I think he also implied that he didn't know what to do musically after that album. And it seems that in those 18 years, he still in that cause all of his music is still the same. He really did peak with FS/LS AND it seems he's the type of artist of artist that can't produce hits unless he's got a muse (e.g. Britney) cause his best songs were the ones dissing her. No offense to her but Jessica isn't giving him bops, he can't produce when everything is good.

I'm just still shocked that his music is still stuck in the past. He just didn't evolve at all in these last 18 years!

Agreed! It goes along with Kanye's story about Justin crying backstage at the grammy's when he lost album of the year because he considered FS/LS to be the best thing he could make. Michael Jackson had that moment with Off the Wall but Michael was able to use that to make Thriller, Justin and his team are lacking in that ability, I believe. Justin is currently doing a press tour saying this new album is his best album but the whole concept is a rehash of old albums. And it's true, Justin kind of needs a muse or a foe to bitch about and culturally, nobody is letting him have a new one and especially are not letting him have his old ones (Britney, Janet, Prince, etc) and you're right, nobody gives a shit about Jessica. The reality is Justin didn't find his Jay-Z like Beyonce did.

Him being stuck in the past also shows the breakdown of the team around him as well, nobody, including him knows what to do next. Even the promotional materials for this new record are totally aimless. 2000s Bush era aspiration just isn't gonna sell now.
