The always earnest Sterling K. Brown tells the story of how he found out he was an Oscar nominee - He had fallen asleep on the floor of his kid's room, and his phone was nearly dead. He woke up and moved from the kid's floor to his bedroom, then the phone dies, and he has to go and find his charger. He plugged the phone to charge, and he then goes to make breakfast for the kids and gets ready to take them to school. His wife says something to him, so he goes to grab his phone (I'm assuming his wife found out about the nomination and gave him a nudge to check his phone) and he sees that he has 126 messages, and he is like "how come I have so many damn messages?" then he realised he got nominated. When he got nominated for the SAG award, he was excited to tell his son and shows him his fellow nominees and his son was like "is this an Oscar? until you get nominated for an Oscar keep it down" - his son is 12. So, he is doubly excited to tell his son about his Oscar nomination and he could see in his 12 years old mind his son was trying to bring him down to earth but couldn't - Sterling finds it funny.

Sterling is not sure how to share his gratitude, he has watched the Oscars but, he has never been to the Oscars. He was told this is the first time two black actors have been nominated for supporting and lead in the same movie. He congratulates Cord Jefferson the writer director - “such a good brother.” and congratulates the composter - Laura for best score nomation.

He will get back to the 126 messages, he has to go work out and go a for a chemistry read - I believe this might be for a new Dan Fogelman series.

Finally he thanks his manager - who he has been with since he was 24 years old, and he thanks his publicist. He talks about the role a publicist plays in your career - getting you invited to events, talks shows, photoshoots etc. His publicist works his ass off. He told his publicist that the role was too small, and he was just happy to do the work, thankful he got the chance to do the project and he probably won’t get nominated. His manager and publicist said people are enjoying the his role and said to get him out there talking about the movie etc. He was happy to do support the movie but nothing was going to come out of it. He thanks them for seeing something he never thought was a possibility. He is happy to do the work and keep doing the work, but he would be lying if he said this wasn’t awesome.

He got a text from Mahershala Ali and he hasn’t had the chance to check it yet. He saw a rainbow yesterday (theres a video about it on his page- as I said always earnest), and this is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Former Costars - Susan Kelechi Watson and Catherine Bell informed him in the comment that they are one of the 126 messages he hasn't responded to.
