The BAFTA saw the chaos of the SAG decided to double down. Like their noms were always going to be out there due to the jury picks and “British sensibility” but some of these snubs are truly unhinged.

NO LILY GLADSTONE?! I think we all would have guessed she wouldn’t win here but to not even nominate her is beyond wild. SAG really needs to come through for her now.

While Emma Stone is probably favored here, I kinda wonder if Sandra Hüller could win. Anatomy did very well across the board. (Also, in addition to them, I wonder which actress was top three in votes)

After Christopher Nolan, the second vote-getter must have been Justine Triet or Alexander Payne. I always assumed the DGA wasn’t going to go 5/5 and saw Payne as being the most likely to miss but if he was top two here, I might have to rethink that. Also, the jury picking Bradley Cooper over Greta Gerwig, Celine Song, and Yorgos Lanthimos is bizarre.

RIP to Andrew Scott’s Oscar campaign. For the most part, All of Us Strangers did pretty well as expected, which makes his miss here even more strange.

The BAFTA are single-handedly forcing me to consider Saltburn as a contender and I don’t like it.

i thought the same about hüller. they even gave her the double nom so i think she has a really good shot here.

If she wins here, it wouldn’t be farfetched to consider her winning the Oscars. There’s going to be some amount of voters who won’t vote for Lily because of the confusion between Lead/Supporting and some amount that won’t vote for Emma as they’re turned off by Poor Things subject matter, while Anatomy has been receiving nothing but love; plus the possibility of Zone of Interest making it in beyond International Film only helps her visibility.

i agree with you. this could (and maybe already has) easily become a 3 woman race. both movies she's in performing so well helps a lot. da'vine joy randolph seems to be running away with supporting actress (which i love), so hüller might get a boost from people who see it as awarding her performances in both anatomy and zone.

The only way he was getting a nom was if he had the support of the British voting bloc to edge out Colman. For whatever reason, seems like he doesn’t so. It’s pretty much shot. I would be thrilled to be surprised next week when the noms come out though.

I get Brendan is a nice guy but still cannot believe he won over colin who gave one of the most heartbreaking performances of all time. I guess colin will have more chances since he’s award worthy in nearly everything

i am truly happy for brendan like he's been through so much shit but colin was finally having his dues paid cause people slept on him because he had the whole heartthrob thing going on but he's so fucking good in everything he does it's mindblowing he should've won

Triet would be exactly the type of director the jury would pick though. Does that mean Bradley Cooper is in the top three?

For Director, it’s only the top two in votes, and I just can’t see Bradley Cooper being the second most vote-getter if Maestro missed in Film. Besides Oppenheimer, the only other films that got in both Film and Director are The Holdovers and Anatomy so it would make more sense if either Payne or Triet were second.

If Lily is going down, then I need Sandra to steal it from Emma!
