I just started this season and for some reason I'm having trouble getting into it? maybe cause it's so much like the movie and so I'm like oh I know what's coming to a degree idk

Fwiw this season really doesn’t have much in common with the movie. They’ll play off certain Coen tropes and themes (like the hitman character) but the plot is pretty different. The first episode sort of riffs on the kidnapped housewife aspect but it becomes clear they’re subverting expectations.

The first season was kind of close to the film - Martin Freeman was William H. Macy, Allison Tolman was Frances McDormand, etc - but after that they’ve been doing their own thing.

ahh okay thanks for letting me know because, to be honest, I haaaated how the housewife was treated in the film (we never got any closure for her either and her trauma was played for laughs which I hated so much)

Maybe in this season, but season 1 there are a few needlessly suffering housewives (still the best season imo)

You did a good job explaining, I just wanted to be explicit for that poster since it seemed like a pretty big sticking point (the suffering housewives get it really rough in season 1, even I find that hard to watch)
