Ryan Gosling Received the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film

Ryan Gosling was honored with the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday night. Gosling, who was the 16th recipient of the award, gave a shoutout to his wife, Eva Mendes, and their two daughters during his speech which largely credited his mom for his love of film.
Noting how his job as an actor has allowed him to portray various roles, Gosling added, "Most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children." (Here's that part if you don't want to see the whole speech: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2E8xWWLzbO/)
"I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream," the actor continued in a sometimes emotional speech (Here's a part if you don't want to see the whole speech: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2E9EL5LBWr/) where he also thanked his mother and sister.
Greta Gerwig also praised Gosling's "amazing wife" in her speech. Steve Carrell recalled Gosling performing with his band at a nursing home for fun.
