It has its flaws, but imo it is definitely more deserving than TL.

To Leslie ended up getting purchased by Netflix after the Oscar nomination, so it definitely made a difference financially

but i'm not sure how much it made a difference for Andrea Riseborough's career. she was seen as an underrated actress waiting for her big moment before but now she's mostly known for that Oscars campaign lol.

i have not seen either movie yet, but IIRC andrea was a stunning & brilliant performance in a somewhat predictable oscar-baity script/movie.

i think that's what made it so controversial in the first place - it was good acting, but still ended up being a mid movie outshining perhaps more deserving movies

The only new thing about this is that they are publishing this on social media. Celebs promoting other celebs during Oscar season is as old as the Oscars.
