I went to watch the clip and I think they’re misunderstanding this douchebag’s reaction, because he’s actually making fun of how her because she said it well… A lot of Spanish people have this thing where they hispanicize English words because pronouncing them in “proper” English will make other Spanish people mock them/think of them as stuck up. My douchebag ex-roommate did it every time I’d say “Better Call Saul.”

It might be changing for the youngest generations, but I’ve talked to a lot of Spanish people 25+ and they agreed on the feeling.

idk I've seen a lot of spanish people of all ages critizicing other spanish speakers accent in english as bad when it's too strong. I'ts a way of classism also, because the better the education the more you talk english and have a "better accent"

He mocks her pronunciation twice. The first time she claps back with the comments in OP re: the awards, they play it off, then the conversation continues. Then she says "Modern Family" the same way again and he mocks her once more, basically implying she's faking the accent on the English words. She claps back AGAIN by saying that she's real, her hair is real, everything about her is real except for her eyelashes which she put on because she had jet lag

My Spanish is not the best so I could have misunderstood the last bit but she was far more patient than me
