The fact they only gave context to her name…

Damn such a good observation
I know jacob is having a moment now (gross) but no way phoebe is more famous

the rising star award doesn't really have to do with fame?

i will say she's getting incredible reviews for that movie she did with alden whatshisname

I don’t want to speak on behalf of the person you’re responding to but I think both our observations was that Ayo had a project before her name, unlike others, in the tweet. Nothing to do with fame = who deserves the award

Edited to add: yes Phoebe, who may not be as well known/mainstream, doesn’t have a project name/context before her name.

Personally I don’t know Phoebe and would have liked some context

i think its a weird media choice tbh because ayo was in like 6 films last year but might be most well known for the bear, i guess.

Oh, for sure. But why preface a project of hers and not the others?

typically when they attach a project to a person's name it's to help the reader remember who they are. for some reason, deadline is assuming you will know who phoebe and jacob are without context.

I meant to edit my response but you responded too quickly!

To me it comes across as a microaggression because why is she the only one given context?

honestly i can see that! nothing surprises me these days

Yes that’s exactly it - deadline is assuming we know who phoebe and Jacob are even tho Ayo is more well known than phoebe
What I was saying has nothing to do with the award

ah i thought you were alluding to why ayo should win (tho i did pick her myself)

No no not at all, although I am rooting for her :) but I like Mia as well and have only seen Sophie in talk to me so I can’t say much except that I find her pretty lol

yeah i feel like if its not ayo, i'd want sophie purely because that is one hell of a debut
