Eh it’s not totally over cause I remember Kristen Stewart missed out on a SAG nom and some other critical awards but managed to get an Oscar nom.

Wasn't it straight up streamed on youtube last year, or am I confusing it with Independent Spirit Awards.

yep they had the netflix deal in place last year but not soon enough for netflix to actually air them... which is good considering how much of a mess the love is blind live finale or reunion or whatever it was ended up being

Hopefully they got that shit straightened out this time but I'd love to see the Ire of Film Twitter aimed at Netflixl.

i thought it was hilarious how (rightfully of course) mad sag was at netflix in particular during the strikes just because like... netflix was sitting around with the rights to this show hinging on that strike ending

Ryan Gosling over Charles Melton is a travesty

Ryan was always a lock. He didn’t take Charles spot.

I am genuinely shocked that people think Ryan was good in Barbie.

Brian getting the nod over Jeremy is quite a shock given his limited screen time. I love Kieran, but I truly think Matthew is the best actor on Succession. As fab as Kieran is as Roman, he’s also kind of playing himself lol

Charles Melton seems to be getting the squeeze. I see everyone on Twitter is mad Ryan “stole his spot” and it’s making me laugh. Ryan has always been a front runner with RDJ. Just because a role is comedy does not mean it’s not award worthy. He was frigging great. I think the bigger surprises are SKB and Willem. Not because they aren’t deserving but there hasn’t been as much talk about them as Charles or even Mark.

sterling and willem absolutely "took" the spots everyone thought would go to mark and charles, but i'm happy for them cuz they were both very good. tough for melton especially but... i don't think may december is destinged for many oscars

I’m upset at Melton not getting the nom but yeah. since we saw the first trailer Gosling was always predicted to be a nominee. RDJ too, Sterling K. Brown is an actor’s favorite actor type guy and Willem Dafoe has been having a renaissance run in the past ten years.

Ruffalo and Melton missing smarts but it’s a tough category

I still think there’s a path for Charles Melton to get a nomination but certainly not a win. This happens every year though, someone starts to do well at some of the more notable critics groups and everyone declares them a frontrunner. (he doesn't even have the most critic wins this season)
