Del Toro is so hit and miss, and I can’t really see a new, interesting angle to the story, tbh. Plus, it’s Netflix. But maybe it’ll be good despite all that.

they could try actually adapting the book for once. that would be a very refreshing new angle to the story 😭

I would really like more faithful adaptations of some of the great gothic horror novels.

I don't want a musical Phantom. Give me Leroux's version.
Same with Frank, Dracula, etc. I want a better Beauty and the Beast (also non musical).

Del Toro is a serious Frankenstein lover. I went to the traveling exhibit of his stuff a few years ago and there was a whole Frankenstein section. I think he'll do this justice.

Del Toro did Pinocchio with Netflix and it was amazing.

Nightmare Alley was a boring, confused mess. And I hate those Hellboy movies.

Nightmare Alley didn’t work; The Shape of Water completely drifted away from the main story, which wasn’t properly fleshed out, to just basically let Michael Shannon chew some scenery; Crimson Peak was a tension-free CGI mess, and I know it’s an unpopular opinion here, but I was really irritated by Pacific Rim
