Why would you want major actors of your movie driving themselves around? That would make me nervous as a producer. Especially a movie costing 100 mil.

Plus, I heard Atlanta people drive like they're possessed.

Not possessed, just stupid

but how is having a driver any less dangerous on the road? like i just fail to understand the logic of driving yourself being "an insurance liability" over being driven by someone. unless they're asking actors to ski boat to the locations, every means of travel is a liability risk when you think about it.

and in this climate, producers are thinking about keeping the costs as low as possible so that the budget won't go over the already astronomical 100 mil (i don't understand how/why this particular movie with no CGI and extravagant sets would cost so much), which is why they replied with "well if we do it for you, we'll have to do it for everyone". securing private cars and drivers for every actor every single day can drive up costs like a motherfucker so it's really not a question of a-listers vs. co-stars. i think taraji is coming off a bit tone-deaf here but i can understand her frustration having been mistreated for so long that even the slightest downgrades can feel as disrespectful or personal.

Because that’s their job, to drive. Like their only work task for the day is to be a professional driver, not be a tired actor driving unfamiliar roads who then has to start their job.

again, a tone deaf response imo. if millions of tired everyday workers can drive themselves to work, so can the actors. do you think crew members who work tirelessly around the clock on the sets are being driven to work by chauffeurs? and it's not like actors would be asked to show at a location without any clear driving directions, gprs etc.

and my point is that, no matter how experienced and rested the driver is, you can still get into an accident no matter what. driving to work will always be a liability, no matter the circumstances.

Are you new to celeb culture? Or life?? Of course I personally care about the regular people that make up a movie set but does Hollywood? You asked a question, I answered. It’s not ‘tone deaf’ when that’s literally why lol

No you don’t. Your incredible despicable and condescending answer speaks volumes.

Are you okay? Like literally I don’t even feel like we’re having the same conversation. “Incredible despicable and condescending” is A LOT

You asking me am I new to life is what’s A LOT. Seriously what a hideous thing to say to someone.

How is a glib lil comment on you seemingly not understanding anything at all about a standard practice HIDEOUS? I’m truly baffled and would love to learn.

LMAO actual ableism is laughable but a rational conversation about drivers is incredibly despicable. I cannot with you😭😂

Just want to say you're not tone deaf and you explained yourself perfectly well and I agree with you.

getting drivers for the cast is totally normal for pretty much every production, even the CW did it

Do they? I remember reading about Archie from Riverdale getting into a crash when he fell asleep behind the wheel driving home from set after a 16 hour day
