I’m seeing it tonight, I can’t wait!

I’m prematurely upset that he probably won’t get an Oscar nom. To be fair, it’s a big year for best actor. But I think A24 really fumbled in promoting this movie. It’s surprising because from what I hear it’s legit good plus you have JAW who is massive right now plus Efron who has consistently been a draw PLUS a sports movie, and a sport with a very loyal fanbase. It’s doing well at the box office all things considered, just seems like this should’ve gotten a much bigger commercial and critical push.

i hope you enjoy it! i was thinking the same about best actor, but you never know. i was pleasantly surprised he was included in the w magazine best performances issue, which i know isn't really indicative of anything but still!

It’s tough though bc I’m worried if he gets a nom it’ll mean that Andrew Scott is pushed out and I really want Andrew to be nominated. I LOVED all of us strangers, and he was incredible. I wish Bradley Cooper and Leo weren’t practically shoe-ins, because I don’t think they deserve it and there’s so many other fantastic male nominees this year. I did think Leo was good and I usually think he is, I just think so many others were better. My ideal lineup though would be Andrew, Paul G, Zac (well, let me watch the movie first but I’m rooting for him!), Jeffrey Wright, and then obviously Cillian, the frontrunner.

I just got back from iron claw. Ouch it was so sad! Fully on board with Zac being nominated. All of the brothers were so good though, they really did so well. Maura also just the dress scene. Almost unbearable tbh.

I really wanted to see it, but then I heard it left out one whole brother. Like pretended he didn't even exist....and that just put me right off. I'm sure I will still watch it sometime in the future though, but I thought that was a weird choice, even if it would have been maybe too bloated.

i didn't know about this until after i saw the film (i know nothing about wrestling), but for what it's worth the director/screenwriter did consult with kevin about that decision and got his blessing. he said that he had all of the brothers in the script for years, but that one more tragedy would make the film too much for audiences to believe if they didn't know the history. it was a real labor of love and i think that comes across.
