People want to sell them. No other reason

Yeah, most of these crazes are more about financial gain - either for direct sales or for social media "content". So it makes sense that people jump on them if they get rewarded, but it's sort of gross to look at from the outside. Couldn't real jobs just pay us?

Couldn't real jobs just pay us?

Exactly. ONTD hates it, but I've said it again and again that it pays far more to jump a counter and steal a box of Stanley cups to sell for 100$ a pop, or buy and resell Oppenheimer Blu-Rays for 60$ than to do the right thing and go to a shitty job for 10$/hr.

These are not necessities, you do not have to buy them. If someone wants to buy from a scalper, at least someone is getting paid.

lol this is such a weird thing to become a hot commodity.

I am a Hydro Homie so I do drink a lot of water and have various bottles scattered around the house, but I have a couple of Contigo bottles, a Nalgene and uh... one metal one that my sister got me last time she was in Yosemite. idk the brand. I don't think I need a Stanley.

I got sick of the taste of the metal/steel lining on my contigo and got ones with ceramic lining inside, so happy with them.

ceramic lining? what brand uses that? my s’well is finally shuffling off this mortal coil and I’m on the hunt for a replacement. never had an issue with metallic taste until the end, but I’m intrigued by ceramic.

I got the funkrin 16oz for my mom when she's traveling in the car, an asobu 12oz mug for my dad's coffee at home, and pizkiru 30oz for home for water and tea - all are ceramic lining and got them off Amazon.

Is it just me or has social media exacerbated the “follow the herd” mentality to insane and annoying degrees?

It's really wild to me how often someone will see an influencer or celebrity do something on social media and feel compelled to do the exact same thing so they too can post it to social media. I literally can't even relate to the thought process. I'm even at the point now that if I see a place get posted about on Instagram or something, I have less interest in it because I know people will be rushing to it and it won't live up to the hype or effort for me.

I live in Nashville and see it all the time, since social media posts from bachelor/bachelorette parties are pretty much what drove the insane wave of tourism we've gotten in the past few years. But it is always funny to see self aware queens post a video like "we thought we were being unique getting pink cowboy hats. Here is a montage of the 500 other people who had the exact same unique idea."

I love Nashville so much and considered moving there a few years ago… I obviously would not live on or near Broadway but the throngs of people I see whenever I go there gives me hives. I know a couple folks who’ve gone there on bridesmaids trips or something and I’m so thankful none of my friends had the interest (or money) to do something like that.

I don't have a stanley. I think it would be too heavy for me lol I have small wrists and hands and I would get sore! I just use a small size reusable glass coffee cup which I love. I think the pink stanley is cute, but I heard they leak and that would be a big no from me as well

Leak how?

Just as in you can't just throw it in your bag because of the straw and around the straw, water will come out. So it wouldn't be useful to me as a gym water bottle or that sort of thing. You have to keep it upright so I think that's kind of limiting

Ah yes that’s very true. I take it to the gym but I can’t take it hiking for that reason (and how heavy it is).

I thought there was a product defect or it it cracked or something.
