I need someone to tell me if I would like this show. I've heard mixed things and I am hesitant to get into a show that's in its 5th season if some of them are not worth it.

Each season is a standalone story, and some reasons are better than others. One and Two are outstanding, Three is just "okay" and I skipped Four. Five is really, really good.

Why did you skip 4?

While I was kinda intrigued by Chris Rock being in it the story didn't really grab me. I might revisit it though. I only watched 2 episodes of Season 3, dropped it, then rewatched the whole thing a few years after it aired and it was a lot better than my initial impression. Perhaps Season 4 will be like that.

a HUGE amount of S4 was filmed 2 houses down from mine(Chris Rocks family house)& then almost all the rest was filmed w/ in less than 6 bocks from me, and this was PEAK COVID IN CHICAGO! WHEEEW A VERY BOLD MOVE to make no matter what but w/ Chris Rock at the helm…… NAHHHHHH. It was a bad move and it did not go smoothly for them. That being said, I think it’s the most clever, captivating, traumatizing and thrilling season 2nd only to Queen KiKi Dunsts.

You did the right thing by skipping it. It did not have redeeming parts at all.

You summed it up perfectly. Seasons 1 and 2 are absolutely amazing, so it makes seasons 3 and 4 feel extra disappointing. Season 5 is back to being great, though!

Seasons 1 and 2 are two of the best seasons of TV from the last 15 years. Season 3 is good but gets a bit high on its own supply at times. Season 4 is a mess but has its moments, and is worth watching for Ben Whishaw's performance/storyline imo. There are still two episodes of Season 5 left but it's incredible.

It's definitely a quirky show but it's so enjoyable and has some of the best characters (villains especially) on tv and the casts are usually excellent with a lot of recognisable faces. S1 and S2 were excellent, S3 was ok and S4 was meh but S5 has turned it around again (albeit with some very dark themes). Each series is a standalone, although there are some little bits that will connect them all together.
