Season 3 was pretty good (I mean, you can't go wrong with Mahershala Ali), so I'm looking forward to this too, especially since it's always nice to see Christopher Eccleston.

Just to be clear, I don't need to watch the other two (I've watched 1) for this one rn? I gotta say, two leading ladies and all the positive reviews definitely make me very excited.

nope! it's an anthology so each season is a separate story with different characters.

Finally I care about this show! (I know, S1 is great and I should watch it. Maybe I will.)

I re-watched season 1 recently and I'd agree. I find the main characters are very well written and acted, but the actual mystery/plot kind of goes off the rails at some point. The cops start making wild assumptions that just ~happen~ to be true and the resolution ends up feeling cheap. Doesn't help that the writing/acting for the main villain was (imo) waaayy too over the top and took me out of it.

Over the top and from memory, everything with the villain was really sudden. We'd seen glimpses of him but were only thrown into his gross, twisted world at the very end of the series and felt like they'd wandered into a different show without time to properly explore it. I remember being confused at the end, wondering if I'd missed something.
