It is tablecloth fabric which she spotted in Peter Jones haberdashery department in London but she had the court dressmaker Jorgen Bender make it into a coat - he also made her wedding dress and loads of gowns for her and Queen Silvia.

she apparently has a really keen eye for clothing and designing costumes! she's designed the costumes for most of the ballets put on by a smaller ballet company in copenhagen for the last 20 years and i saw this clip recently of her talking about designing the costumes and sets for a danish netflix show.

According to Wikipedia she has worked as a costume designer, and Tolkien illustrator.
That first picture just sreams "eccentric artist."

Yeah she sent her illustrations to Tolkien himself! They were used in a Danish edition of LOTR and later (under a pseudonym) in a Folio Society edition. The Tolkien Ensemble project also featured her art in their album covers.
