I hope she had good support upon her release. What she had to endure by her mother is incomprehensible. I read she had surgery to have her salivary glands removed. I had part of one of mine removed due to a tumor and that shit is serious and that's only a tiny fraction of what she went thru.

I believe her father & step-mother plan to be involved. Although, I'm pretty sure she got married as well. Her stepmother said they'd doing a late Christmas, spa day, etc... when she gets out. The step-mother also said that Gypsy Rose is glad she went to prison and the classes & stuff she got helped her grow.

her father and step mother seem to genuinely care for her. I hope that she’s able to have a loving family around her after release.

I'm not familair with the case outside of the headlines. Growing up was her father completely out of the picture at her mother's behest?

They were separated and he lived in a different state but would get Gypsy for vacations and stuff. Dee Dee had him totally convinced that Gypsy’s illnesses were real. It’s also worth noting that he was a teen when Gypsy was born and Dee Dee was well into her 20s so she groomed him.

“She was just a bad mother,” he told Fox. “She was always scared that I would get close to Gypsy. It bothered me. But I was always hoping that Gypsy would get old enough that one day we could bond. It got hard, it really did. But I didn’t want to push it too far. Dee Dee had full custody and could cut me off completely from any kind of relationship we already had.”

It's so sad. Her father seemed to expect something was off, but ultimately believed what Dee Dee was telling him because why would she lie about their kid?

iirc, I think that's what happened. This article relays some info. He remarried and had a separate family, and it seems like Dee Dee used that distance to her advantage.

her mother put her through some of the most horrific medical abuse imaginable and was holding her captive...it makes me so, so sad that Gypsy feels any kind of remorse for what happened to her (though I get it, she seems like a kind person)

Meanwhile how do we feel about her ex Nick Godejohn spending life in prison? I don't know much about him/his history, but life for killing an abuser seems was too much. Like those brothers who killed their abusive parents...

I went to school with (our bio-dads worked together) a guy who [HEAVY TW, violence] murdered a famous psychiatrist during a session. But he had severe schizophrenia triggered by drugs. His identical twin has very similar issues, sans the murders.

So the guy got the very rare plea of criminal insanity and was in a psych ward for a year before he murdered his roommate, also with his bare hands. So they moved him to a much higher security psych prison.

It's so sad bc I remember them as these cute little 9 year-olds in matching Russian clothes and it makes me cry. And then by high school they both broke their brains with drugs sadly, and were basically dressed like Eminem. Such a far cry. I wonder what their household was really like

Nick's a total fucking weirdo and he definitely took advantage of Gypsy. He seems like a deranged psychopath with the mentality of a child so it's probably for the best he's locked up.

honestly i think (hope?) she has to say she regrets it for now. cuz how can she have any faith in the criminal / legal system? it's what led to her abuse for so long and what made her feel helpless to get out

Omg without saliva teeth deteriorate so quickly. Mine have bc of pain meds for endo and adeno. And there's nothing to reverse it.
