same lol. i think the criticism was overall too harsh imo. so many people were mad that they didn't list the events in order like in the original, but i feel like that's hardly the main point of the song lol

the biggest problem i have with it is that some of the rhymes are kinda lame but more importantly, there was no attempt to make it go in chronological order like the original

it was also kind of off? i'm not good at describing music but like the counts were off, so they were rushing some lines and others were too slow

We Didn't Start the Fire is no one's favorite Billy Joel song but the fact that all the historical beats are chronological and he made it work is very impressive

Yeah, the fact that it's out-of-order drives me nuts.

Same. They could have picked better events and made the words fit better but it was far from among the most awful this year lmao

It's better than everyone trying to make an updated version of Bowling for Soup's 1985.

As a fan of the Billy Joel version, I also like FOB’s take! I kind of hope every 30 years we get an update of it by a different band.

I already dislike the original Billy Joel song so no comment there lmao but their new album was great. Fake Out and Heaven, Iowa ended up very high on my Spotify Wrapped.

Same lol

I was surprised at all the criticism it was getting.

I really like it. It's a song that speaks to my experience. And frankly chronological order makes no sense in the age of social media since so many people learn about incidents via other users. And then connect the dots.
