her accent sounds to me like she speaks French as a first language but learned English from childhood/went to English schools. so maybe from Montreal or one of the francophone communities outside of Quebec.
Wasn't really a fan of The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay or The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I feel like both stories could have been so interesting but fell flat for me.
The Midnight Library had such an interested concept and, yes, a good message, but he just needed to keep slamming that message home over and over again, like yes. fine. we get it. thankyou.

As You Wish by Cary Elwes was a fun read A Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson was such a good vampire novel, it prompted me to buy the book (got it from the library previously) The Bright Ages by Matthew Gabriele was an informative history book Cassandra Speaks by Elizabeth Lesser was empowering The Princess Bride by William Goldman was just plain fun

A Dowry of Blood is so good! I also loved the little epilogue of it she posted on her substack. I highly recommend it. I got an ARC of her next book that takes place in same universe, An Education in Malice, that is a retelling of Carmilla. It's good! But I think I enjoyed ADoB more.
I decided to give Haunting Adeline a chance because I could go for a dark romance with stalking, but it was badly written and poorly executed. The FMC was annoying and the MMC gave me mustache-twirling cartoon villain vibes but now he is allowed to cuss.
And I am glad I DNF’d it before I got to the alleged QAnon conspiracy shenanigans.
Womb City - It's coming out in 2024 but I got an ARC. SO badly written.
Riders in the Chariot - This is an older Australian book. 600 pages of absolute CRAP. Not only was it badly written it turned out to be a modern day passion novel with a Jewish holocaust survivor as the modern Christ. So offensive. Do NOT recommend.
