I remember Katie was initially interested in doing Factory Girl (the Edie Segwick biopic) but Tom advised her against it because he said it'd ruin her career. I saw that movie and thought it was fine although if she would've done better than Sienna Miller.

But who knows? Cause Nicole was married to him longer and found most of her success during the marriage and went on to win an 2 years after their divorce.

Yeah obvs the comparison in terms of talent is a tall order but it does contradict the idea that she's not successful cause of Tom.

Maybe there was something but also maybe it has to do with her career taking a backslide due to the reasons.

After getting with Tom her career stalled for several years right when it was supposed to get traction (it was 2 years after the end of Dawson’s Creek, and she had filmed Batman begins and Thank you for smoking), without Tom she would have been in TDK and without a huge gap of several years without working right when she was getting a bit of momentum, so I agree that her career would have been really different, but we’ll never know

I'm sure motherhood also played a part lol. But yeah she really stopped when she should've taken advantage of her opportunities at the time.

Totally, she got pregnant a few months into the relationship, but 4 years without working aside from Mad money ( which she filmed instead of TDK) was too long of a break and it killed any momentum she had build, and her career never recovered

She seems happy as a mum and now directs sometimes, so good for her

Yep! Also after the media craze from the marriage and divorce....I wouldn't be surprised if she had no interest in having that much chaos in her life.

I hope she gets a decent comeback one day!

Exactly. Comparing the two is like comparing an apple to an orange, but there's no denying Nicole is the stronger actress of the two. However, I've enjoyed Katie in movies like "Pieces of April" and "Go" and she seems to just be enjoying her life as it is; I'be always had the impression she took a step back from the limelight on purpose.

I agree, she can be good in some roles, but does not have Nicole’s talent - Nicole was also way more famous than Katie when she divorced Tom and had built already a strong career by that time

I'm sure she went through her down period when they divorced and I imagine the scientology hounds were around there but also....she's been quiet career-wise all these years because I think she wanted too. She's been making some stuff behind the scenes.
