isn't 9 lbs rather large???

I'm due in Feb and ppl are telling me not to buy Newborn sized clothes bc they'll be too small. I just want one or 2 sets for like, taking the baby home in and want it to fit properly/not be loose.

My oldest daughter was born 7lb 5oz and we used newborn for at least a month or so! I'd say a few pieces are worth buying!

Congrats! My son was 7lbs, 7oz and he wore a newborn onesie set for like a day. I was glad I only bought a couple of outfits in that size.

9 lbs or more is a good size newborn.

My girl was born small (5 lbs 6 oz) so I wished we’d had preemie clothes. She was swimming in newborn stuff for a while.

My daughter was 8.7 lbs (3.95kg) and 20.4 in (52 cm) long. She was large and keeps growing at 15 months (32.7 in, 30 lb). I'm under 5'2 but my husband is a full foot taller.

Even at almost 9 lbs, she fit 1-3 month clothing easier. Newborn fit for about two weeks because she was so tall. See how baby is progressing the last month. Preferably buy used clothes for the first three months or so. They outgrow the clothes so fast.

Are you or your partner tall?
I was a 9lbs baby and so was my partner
Our daughter was 10lbs (I only put on 17lbs during pregnancy)

I'm seconding the 3 sets comment, it's a must

I am 5'2, my husband is 5'10. thank you so much (and everyone else!) for the advice, I will keep a couple at newborn size.

but yes I will ask them to estimate the weight in future appointments, that seems like a good idea.
