It is a French name that the naming community and name snobs love. I do t get it’s appeal it’s too cutesy

The German pronunciation on Wiktionary elevates the name to "eh I can see the appeal". In English it's just too mushy and flat. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Ottilie

It might have a French derivation, but I'm French-speaking, and I have never ever met or read about anyone being called that. It's a very strange and not particularly nice sounding name!
