I wrote in fanfiction once and one of my followers told me my story had been plagiarised and posted in two other blogs. It pissed me off so much because the blogs had way more followers and comments than my original was getting. I never uploaded a story again.
I once was reading a fanfic and realized a few lines in that I had read the scene before. It was word for word taken with just same name and hair color changes. This was a couple of months ago. I couldn't believe people were still stealing other people's work. And of course the "author" deleted my comment when I pointed it out. I reported it to AO3, but I don't know if anything's come out of it.
It didn't thankfully. I've published a couple of my writings on other platforms and submitted them to competitions (I won second place once), but never again on a fan fiction site.
Oh that reminds me, when I wrote my very first fanfic I plagerised maybe a few lines from another fanfic. I was like 13? And it was a kissing scene and I’d never kissed anyone 🤣 I was so ashamed that I plagerised, I think I even went back to it a few years later to change it.
