Jake’s career has been a disaster for years. Nothing memorable as a lead since Nightcrawler- and I feel like his Spider-Man part is never talked about.

I think him not winning or even being nominated for an Oscar for Nightcrawler fucked with his head badly and he really said “fuck this shit” and his choices since have been a sign of that.

I think in some respect the industry has moved on from him. He’s done some supporting parts where he can act out something new for a role but he lost the mojo of being a notable leading man. It could be an age thing too. Play more fathers, Jake.

I think it was the reception to Stronger that was really the clincher. And he's done a couple of plays since 2014, but the last one was in 2019.
