Taika Waititi says, as an auteur, he initially had no interest in doing the ‘THOR’ films - “I never read ‘Thor’ comics as a kid.”

“I was poor & I’d just had a second child. I thought, ‘this would be a great opportunity to feed these children.’”

Even rich people have bills, although people don't like to acknowledge that - 'poor' is relative, and if you're in a position where you need extra cash for whatever reason, I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that.

It's when actual, quantifiable numbers are mentioned that it gets vulgar and tactless, in my opinion... I don't think there's anything wrong with what he said here, because he didn't use figures.
