November 26, 2023 ‘The Hunger Game: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is outpacing newer films at the box office with another $11.4 million on Friday, adding onto the $13.2 million it nabbed across Wednesday and Thursday. It has a chance of a $100 million domestic gross through its first ten days of release.
Disney’s Wish is underperforming below expectations with $7.9 million on Friday from 3,900 theaters, pushing its running domestic tally to $20.2 million. It will likely have to stay in theaters through the end of the year to be a success.
Napoleon with Joaquin Phoenix is outpacing expectations at $33 million although it’s unlikely it will recoup its budget of $200 million; box office analysts think that Apple likely views this as promotion for its streaming debut and isn’t as concerned about the box office.
