Sources tell PageSix that Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon are among those bidding to produce a screen adaptation of Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman In Me. They add that even Margot Robbie has expressed interest in turning Britney's memoir into a film or TV series.
There were rumblings that Shonda Rhimes was interested, but the outlet said those rumors are not true. “Shondaland is not pursuing this project,” a spokesperson for the “Grey’s Anatomy” creator’s company told PageSix.
“It’s only beginning to take shape,” one insider said. Spears rescheduled a recent meeting with an unnamed top producer “at the last minute” because she “didn’t feel up to it,” according to
the Ankler, which was first to report the news.
A source told the Hollywood newsletter that Britney is “overwhelmed by the response” to her memoir and the “media frenzy surrounding it,” causing her team to “hold off on making any major decisions about where the rights end up until she has time to catch her breath.”
The Ankler also reported that Spears is in separate talks for a participatory documentary, an offer that is worth $40 million.
Reps for Spears, Pitt, Witherspoon and Robbie did not respond for comment.
