But you're not wrong, at least when it comes to the only soap that I watch, which is GH. It's really, really not entertaining. There are bright spots (Tracy, Lois, Carly's hair, the talent that the 18 and under crowd, on the whole, seems to show is pretty promising), there are low spots (Sasha's never ending torture porn, Blair apparently sleeping with David Vickers?! Any time Michael tries to... well... do just about anything...) and there's a whole lot that leans towards the low. However, Anna shooting Charlotte was captivating!
Most infuriating of all, though, is some of the stupid continuity stuff. Sonny having the picture of the kids that was taken at the wedding on his desk in one scene, and then in the next scene being given the picture by Nina. Aiden calling Carly "Ms. Spencer" when they were at Kelly's, which was owned by his great-great-Aunt Ruby and is a Spencer family institution. Fool, that's your Auntie Carly! Well, really, she's your cousin Carly, but Joss called Lucky "Uncle Lucky" when children of the corn Joss was playing her under Ron, so I'm just running with it. It was also kind of lame that, when Drew was in the hospital and Jake was there freaking out, and he talked about how much Carly was struggling, that they didn't play with the fact that Carly is his dad's best friend for life, so there should have been more of an affinity between the two characters. But the worst, the absolute worst thing that just grated on me was with this end to the Neddie Maine stuff. Ned jumps in the water one day and it's daylight. Then Olivia comes up to the boat house and it's still daylight. Fine. They repeat the scene for the next episode... complete with Ned jumping into the water, and now it's night!?!?!? Gaaaaah!

Y&R's shitty HW Josh Griffin is fi-core, so they had no change with writers during the strike and B&B was still being overseen by Brad Bell as a producer, so I'm sure he still had some input over story direction even if he couldn't actively be writing it.
It'll be interesting to see what DAYS will be like when the strike-era scripts start airing in late December. The first few months were apparently written with the now-fired abusive EP Albert Alarr acting as HW and then current EP Janet Drucker (who has been at DAYS since the 80's) and hopefully Sheri Anderson. So fans are nervous and curious. How much will suck? Will it actually be better without Ron? Or will it all suck until Janet's tenure begins and someone who properly cares about the show will be at the helm. Either way the next 6 months of DOOL are probably going to be rocky AF.
Agreed about Anna shooting Charlotte. Finola better get an Emmy for this story.
Give Rena Sofer & Jane Elliot all the money they want to keep them on the show.
I did love Nina giving Michael the what's-what when he came to her about her calling the SEC. I still roll my eyes at that whole plot point though. Sure she did it to be petty, but Drew & Carly did actually break the law. I do hope Nina finds out about Michael's failed attempt to destroy Sonny via Dex. It could create an interesting dynamic.
As far as Blair allegedly sleeping with David Vickers, I've taken the OLTL Twitter fandom's theory that it was just a ruse to get Martin to divorce her (someone who I can't imagine her ever marrying in the first place) as the truth.
