Her sister (my great aunt) was married to a drag queen from San Francisco. My great aunt had a child with him (a little boy), but couldn't deal with it and ran away to San Francisco to follow him. She knocked on my grandma's door and left her son with her to chase the drag queen to SF. My grandma adopted her nephew as HER son. He was presented to my family moving forward as my uncle (my dad's little brother). It was a family secret until after they died.

Evidently, both my grandma and her sister were queer in a time when one couldn't live an out-and-proud life. I didn't know any of this until my cousin (who is a lesbian - the one who was dealing with my grandma's things after she died) told me the whole scoop.

But, they always knew I was gay from day one (lol). I've always been a fag with three g's!
