November 8, 2023Reviews for The Marvels have dropped ahead of its screenings that begin tomorrow. They aren't great. With a current Metacritic score of a 50, its the second-lowest score for an MCU title, ahead of Quantumania's 48. Yikes!
Here's what critics are saying:
The Hollywood Reporter: The film takes on way more than it can handle, leading to abrupt endings and discarded threads. That said, the trio have great chemistry and are fun to watch, especially Vellani.
CNN: Feels safely bland at a time when Marvel needs to take some chances. Another that highlights Vellani.
IndieWire: There are solid pieces of blockbuster filmmaking and charming stars, but the film is often incoherent and feels snipped and trimmed within an inch of its life. Marvel has reached the point where its films are unable to exist on their own merit.
The Telegraph: Franchises poor visual effects are back with a vengeance. First 30 minutes felt cut to shreds.
The New York Post: The worst MCU film. Has a plot that is impossible to follow with no compelling character development, poor visual effects and another forgettable villain.
