It seems like for the coming season (and actually since the beginning of COVID in particular) lots of shows are falling victim to severe budget cuts, even when they're already in production, or after they've announced one thing and then coming back through and reducing episodes/canceling the show/etc. This doesn't surprise me at all, not just because of the CW's pivot to appealing to their "actual" demographic of "55+" so they claimed, but just industry trends in general. Pretty soon we are just going to be getting a bunch of what amounts to a short miniseries that end on cliffhangers never to be seen or heard from again.

It's funny because I, a person in my late 30s at the time, felt like a fossil watching CW shows when I knew that I didn't hit what I believed to be their intended audience (you know... tweens and teens and posssssssibly college students). But they have all that research that tells me that, compared to their actual audience, I was a spry young thing.

I still wonder how accurate that research was LOL. Or if in reality all those people are watching the non-primetime judge shows, hence why they seem to be pivoting to more stuff like that, except in primetime.
