She was nine when Elvis died. I don't expect her to know anything about what really went down between her parents.

Yep. I don't really know much about how she felt about Elvis, but I guess it's possible she never came to terms with the truth about her father or maybe she just felt like she had to protect his legacy? From the quotes it seems like that and her family being "targeted" was a concern of hers. I did, however, find it a bit off for her to mention her divorce, the subsequent custody battle, and her son's death - like that has anything to do with Sofia Coppola.

It's still her dad. I don't agree with what she's saying but I emphasize with her being upset. Us talking about it is not her talking about it.

i'm referring to the way she's using her divorce and general family issues to place unnecessary blame at sophia's feet for this.

I mean, Lisa Marie is very clear in her explanation: "we are going to have to endure another hit in our lives...These two little girls have been through so much in the past 7 years, enduring my divorce and horrific custody battle and then losing their brother. We’ve all been drowning."

She's giving background for her concerns, and it seems like she had many, which were understandable. They are making a movie while the real life family is alive and several are minors so yes, as a mom, I understand her concerns for her daughters and the studio and filmmakers likewise should have expected pushback. None of that is on Sofia but it is understandable why she brought it up, the family was still emotionally struggling (and we don't and shouldn't know how badly the twins were doing).

to be clear, it's weird these were leaked and shady its happening now as the movie comes out and i wish we knew few less about the private lives of celeb children

but ultimately lisa marie could have written a fucking dissertation on why she didn't want the movie to come out but in the end, it wasn't her story to control or tell and i find a lot of her writing here to be laying on a guilt that is frankly astounding considering who her father really was

whether she could come to terms with it or not doesn't mean a thing to me
