October 30, 2023 Sydney Sweeney and Vanessa Kirby have joined the cast of Ron Howard's upcoming survival thriller Eden, replacing Daisy Edgar-Jones and Alicia Vikander, respectively. (The film has an interim casting agreement.)
Sweeney and Kirby join previously announced cast members Ana de Armas, Daniel Bruhl and Jude Law. The film, previously named Origin of Species, has also welcomed Hans Zimmer to its ranks. This marks the tenth collaboration between the Oscar winning composer and director.
Said to be inspired by a true story, Eden has been described as a "darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters" that "charts the lengths humans will go in pursuit of happiness." Production is scheduled to begin in Queensland, Australia this November, with a small unit filming in the Galapagos.
