I’m praying that Milei doesn’t win the second round, but also fuck the fact the the Kirchners and their fellow corrupt South American ilk have harmed our countries to these levels of polarization, where young people just want to vote someone else in because at least they’re not “the same.”

Ironically, the one Argentinian Swiftie I know was okay with Milei, which really surprised me because she’s always identified as progressive… I was speechless.

In some cases, the far left and the far right have stuff in common and people take advantage of that. I know multiple guys (always men...) who went from supporting Bernie Sanders to Trump. And in Germany a progressive political group fractured and a new political party formed by left-wing politicians seems very right-wing (anti-immigration, anti-west, pro-Russia).

I swear some people refuse to understand the political spectrum is a horseshoe, not a line.

I think saying the horseshoe theory thing toes in line with being an enlightened centrist and it's stupid and a lazy conclusion. I doubt those Bernie men were progressives to begin with. They just wanted to be anti-Hillary etc. It's like how most boomers that were hippies in the 60s and 70s just did it to be against their parents but now vote for Trump lol

I'm not surprised.
I have argentinian friends and they are so tired of their government and the current situation, they only vote against Milei, not for someone. They don't feel the slight enthusiasm for anything.
So the people that want radical change (either from the left or from the right) are likely voting for Milei.

Misguided imo. Milei is unique in the sense that his crowd are ideologically violent and there have actually been episodes of physical violence against LGBTQ people following the primary elections, perpetrared by Milei supporters.

Anyone who thinks Milei is a good kind of change is obtuse and deluded.

That’s what drives me crazy-I can understand if a right-winger, a centrist or a “politically disinterested” person votes for people like Milei, but seeing people who call themselves progressive or who support the very rights Milei is against saying that they’ll vote for him because they want a “change”? Absolute stupidity.

Yes! Makes my blood boil. We are not only forgetting our own history but other countries' history.

yeah, there is a reason milei's stolen speech about the "swamp" worked there, the rest of the candidates are well-established politicians who have been part of Argentina's government at some point in the last 40 years, it is so dire people think things can't get worse (they can).
