Genuine question: how's this gonna do something for an actual ceasefire? 🥺

Popular support is needed to raise awareness and push for a Ceasefire. It can actually help if the right people start to take notice.

Who are the right people when a filthy rich and military powerful country like USA is supporting Israel? The UN? LOL!

I'm sorry but everything seems just so hopeless :(

It only seems like the POTUS and the govt senate etc actually have power to do that but NOBODY want to do it bc 🤑💰. Like, until recently, Kamala Harris took it to the stage and basically said ‘hey I know it’s nagl but we ain’t going to help them no more 4ever. They’re on their own, k thx bye’.

So we dunno what’s next

Nothing probably, the political establishment cares about nothing but land, resources, and lining their donor's pockets. But in 10 years when we look back and ask how this could've happened, we'll at least be able to say that average people didn't cosign our government's atrocities. If you have a voice and some reach, you should use it even if it won't change anything. The same with the marches.

public pressure is important. we know biden is deciding what war crimes to allow.

if there wasnt widespread backlash, this wouldnt have happened, biden would have let it go.

Shutting off communications in Gaza was an explicit decision by the Israelis -- one that was reversed after pressure from the United States, says a senior U.S. official. “We made it clear they had to be turned back on" and "need to stay back on.” Via @ClaireParkerDC in Egypt pic.twitter.com/H0lzz3xwLu

wow I haven't seen that! The time they stayed offline were the scariest thing I have ever seen. Was like things being made by super villains.

DO you think USA will publicly chance their speech because of how this is being received by millennials and gen z?

biden is def looking at all this as a political how will this affect me in the election next year issue rather than a i need to save lives asap issue. so i do think the millenial/genz backlash is making a difference. social media is genuinely making a difference. its no longer cnn, fox, nbc, etc controlling the narrative, everyone has social media at their fingertips to see the genocide unfold in real time. the main problem is, because hes looking at it as just political election issue there is no extreme urgency from him, hes taking his sweet time. but to save lives, reversing course immediately needs to happen asap.

like if the presidential election was next week, im pretty sure these palestinian americans woulda been helped by the govt to get out already for biden to score easy political points.

Their attorney told me the White House and the State Department have stopped responding to him.

In earlier communications, US officials asked him to use his own contacts to help & suggested the US was giving stranded Americans unconfirmed ( ... )

I am one of those people, I have always been like we have to vote no matter what but the way he has used othering speech when talking about Palestinians I do not know how I could make myself vote for him. I never liked him but now I hate him. I honestly don't know what I am going to do besides get a passport and have an escapes plan for when a republican wins. I really could see Biden loosing over this no one was excited about him but now I feel like anyone my age or younger is more furious at him than ever.

A ceasefire polls with the majority of Americans, even Republicans. And it sure as hell polls higher than his approval ratings. The people advising him (and he himself) are unbelievably stupid in addition to inhumane.

yup, same. voting for the "lesser evil" shit i cant stomach anymore. like you said, no one really liked him, no one was excited for him, but now so many have complete and utter disdain for him.

I sadly think nothing will happen Biden has been worse than usual when asked about palestine. But showing support does matter I have gotten private messages saying how much it means to see support from people. Also the more people speak out the less people are scared to. I learned about palestine maybe 6 years ago? I was always so scared to say anything though but seeing more support than ever helped me feel like I could talk about it.

on a genuine note moving the overton window on this when the coverage has been so one-sided means something imo
