It's a sobering statistic that elected officials in the U.S. Read more... )

I had to take a small break from news about Palestine, it's been so demoralizing watching genocide in real time. Seeing all those dead/injured babies is too much. it just makes me feel even more guilty though, because Palestinians don't get a break to preserve their mental health.

I saw a video of a child who was so terrified until a doctor told him the shelling had stopped. And that he was safe. And the child just started crying because he'd been so scared. I've never cried till I saw that. He had noone to comfort him. How is that okay. Why is this happening. It's so sad. That child will grow up to be painted a villain. He's just a child who's got no chance in life now. It's heartbreaking.

I saw that video and it made me stop watching videos from Gaza. It made me feel so disgustingly helpless. There is literally nothing I can do to help that little innocent baby not feel pain and fear. We’re watching genocide unfold and nobody cares.

Someone I used to call a friend posted something about how *Israelis* can’t take breaks from the fear (mmk) when I stopped posting Palestine stuff for a couple of days around my birthday. It could be a coincidence, but it just felt pointed towards me as I’ve been very vocal about what’s going on and sharing links for donations, etc. I’ve been a goddamn, triggered mess this whole month and she knows my past as a war/genocide survivor so I just had it with her and finally deleted her.

Anyway, I understand your guilt, but we literally can’t do much else than spread awareness. And to do that we have to have somewhat clear minds. It won’t help any Palestinian to lose a supporter to a deep darkness.

I'm struggling so much. I have Palestinian friends and friends of friends, and Jewish friends who have always been very "not in my name", so we've been talking generally about this for ever... but I also have Israeli-connected people in my circles including one good friend, and someone who has recently gone there and fully embraced Israel as their home away from home, who naturally sides 100 percent more with Israel than Palestinians, though they kindly extend their hopes for peace to the Palestinians too ( ... )

But I think Israel should still be allowed to exist as a safe home for Jewish people if they want it, which puts me at odds with some of my pro-Palestine friends (especially the ME ones).I understand where you're coming from. the question of what to do with everyone currently living in Israel if Palestinians get the full extent of what they're fighting for is a hard one that I haven't seen too many people try to genuinely answer. some Israelis have connections and communities outside of Israeli that they can return to, or otherwise rely on to establish themselves outside of Israel, but many Jewish Israelis and/or their descendants were essentially forced out of their home countries and had to live in Israel. a lot of countries simply do not want them back. it's not wrong that Palestinians want their land back, but it's not as simple as just turning the land over. the post-Soviet aliyah alone saw nearly a million Jews move to Israel. most of those people can't go back ( ... )

Yeah! I mean I am of colonial stock and I absolutely 100 percent belong where I was born, where my mother was born. Even though I'm first generation on the other side and we've only been here maybe 150 years at MOST. And I'm old ( ... )

UGH UGH and can I also say... you get people looking at the Hadid sisters and the story of their dad's family getting kicked out by the family they sheltered during the Nakbah, and saying "well he did all right and his whole family are rich so no biggie".

I mean there are many very wealthy Jewish people who escaped the Holocaust too. That doesn't mean it was TOTES OK TO HAVE IT nor that they are not DEEPLY VISCERALLY TRAUMATISED BY IT.

I can't understand why Israel - as a nation - can be literally built on the ashes of the Shoah and yet some of its people don't seem to see the parallels, nor care at all, that they're doing the same thing to other people as happened to them.

I just read that as of now (and of fucking course I can't find the article) entire generation of Palestinians have been wiped out from the genocide.

I didn't think my heart could break anymore, but here we are.
