Since this is based on an animated property I guess this isn’t breaking the strike rules? Like even though the characters have been in struck work, these specific costumes are based on the cartoon so it doesn’t count? Idk.
Yeah they originated from comics but all the characters have been adapted into live action film and/or TV shows. But maybe since these specific costumes are more directly referencing the animate serries, it doesn't count? But then like what about Spiderman or Superman or Batman? They obviously originated with comics, but it'd kind of feel against the spirit of the strike if someone dressed up as them.
But another commentor said that SAG-AFTRA said that it's fine as long as you're not posting pics to social media because then that would be considered promoting the struck work?
i would think a generic spider-man or superman or batman is fine unless they're doing a specific one. like camila is clearly specifically doing earth kit's catwoman here, but because that was so old, i don't think it's considered struck work anyway. so as long as people aren't trying to do tom holland's spider-man somehow, i think it's fine
but also yes, i think if they don't post to social media until the strike is over also works
