PAPER Magazine is back (after ceasing editorial operations and laying off its staff in April), and for its comeback cover story Cher sat down with editor-in-chief Justin Moran to talk about legacy, trans rights and her newest album Christmas.

For me it goes even deeper. I think of Cher the Believe and then… Believe blasting from the speakers at some vacation spot as I, a pudgy 13 yo, tried to impress an older teen guy with how ~hawt~ I looked in my shorts and cropped mesh shirt.

I would’ve blocked this traumatic moment a long time ago, but it’s on tape and my family tortures me with it every few years or so. 😂😫😂😫

Yeah she has a really great outlook on what success means and how diverse voices benefit the music industry/world in general, but it's also very honest and vulnerable about her own career and projects. I really love seeing established artists who are still excited by doing something new with their own work and also by the work of new artists around them, it's a rare quality.
